| description | - You're the adoring mother of a lovely baby . . .then moments
later, bereaved; grief-stricken and shocked, for without any apparent reason
the child has died. A post-mortem calls it Sudden Infant Death Syndrome,
and there's sympathy from all around. A year or two later you have a second child. There's a near-identical tragedy . . . and this time you might find that there's accusation of double murder, a farcical trial, and gutter-press headlines such as MOMSTROSITY! Alas, this isn't fiction. Investigative journalist Ken Norman, in his book "The Lynch-Mob Syndrome," makes the claim that this has become the norm. Louise Woodward, Sally Clark, Manjit Basuta, Angela Cannings, Maxine Robinson, Donna Anthony, Helen Stacey and others (he claims) are all falsely convicted of killing children. And if YOU should witness the deaths of two babies it's very, very likely you'll get life imprisonment . . . wrongly. See reviews page?

| I.J. comment | - The campaign associated with this work has been a major factor in a big shake-up in British justice. This is a must-read for anyone with a social conscience. Detailed enough to be suitable for students of the law and specialist medics, para-medics and nurses. In view of the ever changing situation in the scientific, medical and legal worlds regarding Shaken Baby Syndrome and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, the second edition is not printed except by special order and with a price tags that matches its one-off nature. Instead it has been continuously updated up to early 2004 when a review of all cases was announced and is now sold as electronic text, either in Word format or plain unformatted text. Note- you need to have an e-mail system which accepts files greater than 1 megabyte. Copies on disc by request only and with added disc and postage costs - e-mail us. See special Portia Campaign feature page. |
